Paws Hearts and Hands of Candler County

A nonprofit organization supporting spay and neuter accessibility in our community

Paws, Hearts and Hands of Candler County is a Georgia 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs and cats in our county. Our primary initiative is to reduce the number of unwanted litters and the animal suffering that often follows by supporting spay and neuter accessibility in our community. Learn more about our programs below.

Family Pet Program

Spaying or neutering is vital to your pet’s overall health and well-being as well as to the prevention of unwanted litters.

We provide “$25 Fix” spay/neuter vouchers to financially challenged families in Candler County who otherwise could not afford to fix their pets. Our vouchers cover all but $25 of the cost of spay/neuter surgery and an initial rabies vaccination.

If you need financial assistance to spay or neuter your family dog or cat, please let us know.

Community Cat Program

Free roaming community and feral cats are a problem in our community. We help in several ways.

We provide education about feral cats and the best practice Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) method for getting them fixed. We loan traps and offer “$25 Fix” spay/neuter vouchers to homeowners who are willing to trap feral cats on their property and transport them to and from the local spay/neuter clinic with whom we partner.

If you would like more information about this program, please let us know.

Shelter Animal Program

The Metter Animal Shelter has many beautiful dogs and cats available for adoption. We support efforts to place them in loving homes within our community by providing “$25 Fix” spay/neuter vouchers for these animals as well as heartworm testing and prevention for shelter dogs.

When local homes cannot be found, we assist with the costs of placing them with rescue partners.

We urge you to visit the shelter today and meet these sweet furbabies. You may just fall in love and bring one home!
